The Blood Bank at Rustaq Hospital, in collaboration with the Social Committee of Al-Awabi Sports and Cultural Team in Al-Awabi Wilayat, South Al-Batinah Governorate, organized a blood donation campaign at the multipurpose hall of the Al-Awabi Wali’s office.
Saif bin Said Al-Kharousi, Deputy Chairman of the Social Committee of Al-Awabi Sports and Cultural Team, said: “The campaign received a great response from citizens. This blood donation campaign was conducted in cooperation with the Blood Bank at Rustaq Hospital, and is part of the committee’s agenda to raise awareness about the importance of donation in saving many lives. It also aims to meet the needs of the blood bank and health institutions for essential blood units, and to activate the participation of various community institutions, both public and private sectors, in providing donation services to patients and those in need of blood transfusions in various health institutions.”
It is worth noting that among the most urgent cases requiring blood transfusions are hereditary blood diseases, such as: major thalassemia, some cases of sickle cell anemia, enzyme deficiency disease, accident victims like road accidents and disasters, bleeding during major surgical operations, and cases of malignant blood diseases.
