In an important step to enhance the quality of healthcare provided to sickle cell anemia patients in the Sultanate of Oman, the Omani Society for Hereditary Blood Disorders held a meeting with Aster Royal Al Raffah Hospital to explore ways to build a comprehensive approach to healthcare for this group of patients. The meeting aims to improve the level of health services in line with the aspirations of Omani society and provide integrated care that meets the medical and psychological needs of patients.
During the meeting, both parties discussed the necessary foundations for building this comprehensive approach, focusing on the importance of having a multidisciplinary medical team including doctors in the fields of hematology, psychiatry, orthopedics, anesthesiology, and other specialists. This collaboration comes as part of efforts to ensure the provision of high-quality health services that cover all medical and emotional aspects needed by patients to improve their quality of life.
The Omani Society for Hereditary Blood Disorders emphasized the importance of this meeting as a key step towards developing an integrated healthcare model in the Sultanate, focusing on enhancing cooperation between health institutions to provide the best levels of care. The meeting aims to lay the foundations for providing advanced services that meet the medical aspirations of Omani society and align with the highest international standards.
