Rustaq – Said Al Salmani –
The Directorate General of Health Services for South Al Batinah Governorate, represented by the Director General’s Office (Professional Development and Guidance Section) and in cooperation with the Health Education and Community Health Initiatives Section, organized a workshop titled ‘Hereditary Blood Diseases and Premarital Screening’. The workshop was conducted by Professor Dr. Salam bin Salem Al Kindi, Senior Consultant in Hereditary Blood Diseases, at the Rustaq Hospital hall, targeting doctors, nurses, and health educators in the governorate.
The lecturer addressed the importance of community cooperation, both individuals and various institutions, in tackling these diseases, including the significance of conducting premarital screening to ensure the formation of a healthy family.
He pointed out that it is well known to everyone how much attention the Ministry of Health pays to everything that would improve health services in the Sultanate. The Ministry has established premarital screening clinics in all regions and governorates of the Sultanate. Through these clinics, prospective couples are screened to determine if they are affected by or carriers of certain hereditary blood diseases, in order to limit the spread of these diseases.
